About LEE Jiwon 본문
Jiwon Lee is a South Korean pianist. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Louisville under the guidance of Dr. Anna Petrova, having previously studied with Dr. Jeffrey Jamner. Since moving to Louisville, he has been an active performer on the University’s stages, appearing as the piano soloist in David Maslanka’s Symphony No. 7 with the University of Louisville Wind Ensemble, including at the New Music Festival in Margaret Comstock Concert Hall. Most recently, he was named a selected artist for the 2026 Washington International Young Artists Music Series (WIYAMS)
Prior to his studies in the U.S., Lee built a foundation in Korea. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Chung-Ang University, where he graduated with high honors (Magna Cum Laude). During his undergraduate studies, his performance in the juries led to have the Honors Recital, which is a Gala Concert reserved for the university's top-ranking pianists. His competitive success includes prizes from the Korea Brahms Association Competition (2024) and the T&B International Artist Competition (2022).
Lee is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Louisville School of Music. He assists with Class Piano Lab and provides supplemental private lessons for students. He has refined his artistry in masterclasses with world-renowned pianists such as Ilya Itin, Lora Tchekoratova, Kevin Chance, and Zahari Metchkov.
